Fifth Harmony's 'Work From Home' claims new title and girl group record

Fifth Harmony seem to be on a role as their newly self-titled album is set to be released August 25th. In addition, the girl group add another trophy of achievement to their success pile. ‘Work From Home’, the international single that ripped the airways in 2016 was officially certified 5x platinum by the RIAA for selling 5 million plus units in the United States alone.

The highest certified single for a girl group originally belonged to both Icona Pop and their song ‘I Love It’ as well as Fifth Harmony’s ‘Work From Home’, both having a 4x platinum RIAA certification. Luckily for ‘Work From Home’ and its RIAA upgrade, Fifth Harmony now solely claim the title for having the highest certified song by a girl group in America.

‘Down’ featuring Gucci Mane is the groups current single, with it only scraping the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100 and other worldwide charts. Many critics compared the songs repetitive chorus to their previous singles ‘Worth It’ and ‘Work From Home’. Despite the frequent comparisons, it seems to be a key formula for the group in terms of rolling out a radio pop hit.

The group discussed having more input in their third pop album effort compared to their last two releases. Ally Brooke commented on this stating:

We’re able to write more on this album. For the first time, we’re having a lot of creative control and input, and that is something we are so, so excited about. We’re very happy to be in control of it and to have our voices really on it through the lyrics, through the writing, [which is] something we’ve never really been able to do before as a group.

All members of the group are also working on small side projects while simultaneously keeping the group in positive harmony. This includes Normani Kordei’s successful third place win on Dancing With The Stars as well as Lauren Jauregui’s collaboration with artists like Halsey (i.e. ‘Strangers’ – Hopeless Fountain Kingdom).
